What to stop putting in the recycling bin

- Multi-layer packaging. Snack packets and foil-lined pouches combine materials that cannot be separated economically.
- Greasy or food-soiled paper. Oil ruins paper recycling; compost it or bin it.
- Anything wet. Moisture degrades paper and invites the whole batch to be rejected.

Recyclers buy clean, dry, sorted material and reject the rest. The habits are small: rinse when you wash dishes, crush bottles flat, keep a dry storage spot.
